Présentation
Le Cello Archive Project est un projet collaboratif d’envergure internationale lancé par l’Association Sebastian Lee en avril 2026. Récompensé par le FDVA 2026 catégorie « Projets innovants » et en partenariat avec la BnF, son but est de faire entendre et découvrir le répertoire rare ou méconnu du violoncelle, gratuitement et en accès libre pour tous.tes. Dans cette mission de recherches, enregistrements, compilation et mise à disposition du public sous la forme d’un grand wiki musical, l’Association Sebastian Lee et la BnF proposeront une sélection d’enregistrements accessibles sur Gallica et en salle de lecture afin de proposer la découverte ce fonds d’exception au plus grand nombre.
Appel à participation
Le Cello Archive Project s’adresse à tous.tes les violoncellistes, amateur.ice.s, semi-professionnel.le.s ou professionnel.le.s, ainsi qu’aux autres instrumentistes ayant la volonté de rendre accessible la musique rare et méconnue pour le violoncelle (solo, duo, en ensemble, orchestre, ou accompagné d’un autre instrument) au travers d’enregistrements accessibles à tous.tes via un fonds d’archives d’exception. Chaque personne peut contribuer au projet de façon libre et désintéressée sous forme de partage de contenus audios enregistrés. Nous attirons l’attention sur le fait que les contenus audios doivent être de qualité suffisante pour en assurer la diffusion sur le site. Il est vivement conseillé d’utiliser un pédalier, micros ou tout autre matériel d’enregistrement professionnel ou semi-professionnel.
Conditions
Afin de garantir la qualité de ce fonds exceptionnel, certains critères doivent être respectés quant à la qualité de l’interprétation ainsi que des enregistrements.

The Cello Archive Project
Presentation
The Cello Archive Project is a large-scale international collaborative project launched by the Sebastian Lee Association in April 2026. Awarded the FDVA 2026 prize in the « Innovative Projects » category and in partnership with the BnF (National Library of France), its aim is to make rare or little-known cello repertoire accessible and available to everyone, free of charge. As part of this mission of research, recording, compilation, and public dissemination in the form of a large musical wiki, the Sebastian Lee Association and the BnF will offer a selection of recordings accessible on Gallica and in the reading room, thus allowing as many people as possible to discover this exceptional collection.
Request for Participants
The Cello Archive Project is open to all cellists – amateur, semi-professional, or professional – who wish to make rare or little-known cello music (solo, duo, ensemble, orchestra, or accompanied by another instrument) accessible to everyone. The recordings will be made available to the public via an unprecedented wiki-style archive. Anyone can contribute to this project by submitting an unlicensed and non-copyrighted audio or audio/video recording. Please note that the audio content must be of sufficient quality to ensure its playability on the website. The use of a pedalboard, microphones, or other professional or semi-professional recording equipment is strongly recommended
Terms and Conditions
In order to guarantee the quality of the archive collection, certain criteria must be achieved regarding the quality of the musical interpretation in addition to the quality of the recording itself.
